Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express is a classic 2013 Indian action comedy film that features Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan as the star cast. Raised by his grandparents from eight years old, Rahul Mathaiwala, a forty-year-old bachelor’s life takes on a wild adventure when he is invited on a trip to Goa by his friends.
Rahul’s grandfather dies on the eve of his 100th birthday while Rahul is preparing for his trip. His grandmother requests Rahul to fulfill his grandfather’s dying wish of dividing the deceased cremated ashes into two parts, to be immersed in two different rivers.
Rahul reluctantly agrees but secretly plans to dump the ashes in Goa as the two rivers are off his travel route. He dramatically crosses paths with “damsel-in-distress” Meenamma in an attempt to save her from kidnap, only to discover that she is really a runaway bride of a ruffian, Tangabali, and daughter to Durgesh, a mafia headman in Tamil.
From one dangerous adventure to the other, Meenamma and Rahul fall in love and contend with the forces that stand in the way of their romance. Rahul eventually fulfills his father’s wishes and emerges victorious in a duel that earns hum Durgesh’s approval.
